It’s here. Miss Sophie’s opened her doors in Olomouc June 1st, 2017 and Denisova street will never be the same. A 13th century building comprising of a stylish but still quirky interior with refined details that you have come to know as a trademark of Miss Sophie. Eight exquisitely furnished rooms with original tiles, textured walls, vintage furnishings, kitchenettes, walk-in showers and all around incredible interior design (our designers really out-did themselves) make for an intimate, boutique hotel in the heart of this Moravian city. To top it all off, a spacious cafe on the lower floor of the building to be shared with guests and locals alike.
First, we must give you a proper tour. After 10 years of hard work (yes 10 years of renovating this delicate building), we want to show it off a bit. We will first explore the kavarna, or cafe, located on the ground floor in the basement and full of enough chairs and comfy sofas to seat 80. After all, Sophie is really all about the cafe culture, so she thought why not open her own for her guests to enjoy each other’s company over a coffee or Chomout from the tap? We like the idea of our guests mingling with locals, creating an authentic connection to the city.
Faire will include coffee from La Bohéme in Prague, homemade lemonades, a local microbrew on tap, milkshakes, affogatos, cakes and pastries that will give your Grandma a run for her money, Hanacky „burgers“ with minced meat and veggies on local bread, hermelín, waffles, salads and last but certainly not least, the classic Olomoucky Tvarůžky. Breakfast will be available for an extra fee.
Since this building has such significant historical standing, we weren’t allowed to alter the building too much in the name of preservation. Thus, we do not have an elevator, for people that is. We do however have an pully elevator for the luggage of those staying on upper floors that our reception staff will be happy to assist you with!
We know we might be a bit biased, but we will let the photos do most the talking. First, we’ve got a three double rooms suitable for two featuring a plush king-size bed, original wood beams and street views of Denisova.
Next we have two triple rooms, still with all the same amenities plus a garden view and an extra twin bed that feels just as lavish as the fore mentioned.
What we really love about these the rooms is the combination of wooden beams, textured walls, chic linens and original geometric tiles in all of the bathrooms. Now, these tiles are rather special to the building. We were delighted to discover these original pieces during renovations and bring them back to their true glory. There are a few different patterns found through out the rooms that have been treated with love.
Our single family suite that sleeps up to five. It appears to be the same as the triple rooms we offer, however there is a door in the right corner, almost hidden in plain site. It leads to a balcony that overlooks the garden and connects to a intimate, bungalow style room, with a double bed for two.
Last, but certainly not least, we have two doubles in the attic! These loft style suites are full of warmth and coziness. Complete with a kitchenette, structural wood beams, and a few quirky accents. One room even has a hidden reading corner and a bathroom with it’s own skylight!
To celebrate the opening, Miss Sophie held a small ‚hotel warming‘ for friends to show off her new space. Guests gathered to tour the rooms, listen to live music, indulge in some tasty treats from the kavarna, and snap some polaroids together while enjoying one another’s company. It was the perfect start to the genesis of a hotel – open now until forever!
