Cocktails in Vinohrady

What could be a better end to a great day in the historical city of red roofs? A drink? We thought so too…

Miss Sophie has prepared a small list of bars in our favourite district – Vinohrady, an elegant residential area with breathtaking Neo-Renaissance, Art Nouveau and Baroque architecture with gorgeous green spaces that we call home. Meaning vineyards in Czech, the 14th century Vinohrady was nothing more than just that. Composed by history. Vinohrady is the sleek, hip, and international neighborhood to wine and dine your way through Prague’s more modern establishments, especially for those looking for something local and off the beaten path

Bar Nota

This is a small family bar with pleasant atmosphere and minimalistic design. Their menu not only includes your standard cocktails but also a nice selection of signature drinks. Sophie’s favourite is Saffron Twist, a gin based drink with a touch of orange bitters along with a couple of cucumber slices, leaving you refreshed. Treat yourself to various kinds tapas from all over the world that changing daily. If you wish for some peaceful moments, head straight to the terrace at the back yard.

This newly-opened hidden treasure, tucked away in a courtyard near I.P.Pavlova metro station. Bohemian modern style of this bar brings a bit of chicness to it. A wide range of signature cocktails are ready to be tasted. A must try is the R.H.C.P signature cocktail, an exotic combination of spices and citruses. What makes this place extra special is their spacious summer terrace, located away from the noisy streets and crowds and brings the neighborhood feel with youthful vibe. Ber.Lin Bar also has karaoke in the evenings, so if you feel like singing for a bit, you are more than welcome.

Zanzibar cafe

You would probably question why Sophie put this cafe on the list with bars..The answer is simple, she really loves this spot for its amazing location on one of the cutest squares in Prague, it is relatively small but has this very local, elegant ambiance and of course actually it is a very pleasant place for a drink in the evening if you are not hungry. For that special reasons try to get seats on the street. They have czech local beers on tap and they have even their own produced ginger and elderflower beer which is very original and worth trying. If you are not a beer person that is not a problem – wines, cocktails would be your choice.

This bar has an incredible local atmosphere. Located in the unofficial gastro street of the Vinohrady district, where you can immerse yourself with the locals and always find good DJs with a nice party vibe. Bullerbyn

This might seem like an old bar by the decor and style, but there is more to it. Inspired by Astrid Lindgren’s Bullerbyn stories, is like a magical trip through your childhood. Minimally decorated with hand drawings of the mythical world from fairytales and a menu found in a school style notebook give Bullerbyn a unique sense of style. You can find there not only an extensive menu with interesting and refreshing cocktails, but also 4 taps of Czech Beer as dark, light and řezané ( mix of light and dark), so it just depends which one you like! As for cocktails, Sophie could not decide on one since they are all so different – and so mouth watering. Must-tries include the Mungo Jumbo – a gin based drink with mango that makes it sweet and basil that adds peppery flavour or the Pornstar Martini, a truly summer rum-based drink with passion fruit and vanila that creates fruit bomb in your mouth.

BOHO cafe

BOHO cafe and bar, is also a vintage concept store which looks really trendy. You could be lucky enough to have both a nice drink and take home a small vintage treasure. The eclectic interior adds a nice touch to the bohemian style. There is a carefully curated selection of mixed drinks done in there BOHO style, as well as local beers and ciders! Would you like a cold, golden ale or a fizzy cider? BOHO cafe can be proud of their rich variety of wines of extremely superb quality that are all served either by glass or a bottle. Sophie’s favourite one is Pomfy, Rulandské šedé (SVK)- with a pleasant orange scent and honey-apricot notes.

Puerto Bar

If you are a gin lover, then go to Puerto as they have a special Gin&Tonic menu that features truly original combos ! Sophie’s suggestion would be Mediterranean Sea, delicious mixture of herbs and gin. From the first sight it is done in minimalistic decor but all its crazy atmosphere is reflected on the wall with hand crafted images. It is the perfect place where to go when you want to have some quality fun in a chilled atmosphere and soak up some creative vibes. To add another pleasant point to Puerto, they have spacious sidewalk terrace for you to enjoy some warm summer evenings.

Bar and Books

This bar has a big history, founded in 1990 in New York City, Bar And Books set a new standard for Cigar Bars worldwide by redefining the concept of hospitality. The bar is ideal for a more elegant night out. The interior features 1920s: vaulted ceilings, a copper bar, leather seats, and dark wood bookcases full of various books. Located on Mánesova, Bar and Books offers a wide selection of whiskey, champagne, premium wines, rums, signature cocktails and an array of cigars, including their own special blend. A small touch to your evening – regular concerts and burlesques are held there as well. If you’re looking for something “healthy” get the Beet&Peat cocktail, which includes beet and ginger shrub, ginger liqueur and fresh lemon for the a bit of spicy tastes. If you want to fully engage with Bar and Books vibe then you should definitely order their Old Fashioned, classic drink but with a style.

Vino Hruska

Czech Republic is known as one of the best beer countries, but it also has really good wines, especially white ones from Bohemia and Moravia regions especially. These two regions are known for the culture of wine drinking as Plzeň known for beer drinking. Sophie recommends you to visit Vino Hruska- a small family winery. Not only they have their own produced wines from Blatnice, South Moravia, for any taste, but also from France, Italy, Spain and even Chile. To accompany your wine, you can enjoy a local cheese or meat plate as well as olives and freshly baked baguettes. Sophie’s recommendation would fall on RULANDSKÉ ŠEDÉ, 2015 from Fresh Collection of Vino Hruska, plums flavor bringing a little bit of sweetness and floral scent.

Prosekarna

Without this Prosecco Bar, Sophie’s guide would be incomplete as it is really popular amongst locals of Vinohrady district. Regardless of whether you are a connoisseur of sparkling wines, or if you only like to count bubbles in a glass, professional staff will offer you a big range of what they offer and share their knowledge of Prosecco. The interior is reminiscent of an italian tavern creating a cozy atmosphere perfect to share with some friends. To add to your bubbly wine you may order cheese or meat delicatessen. On warm days you may enjoy yourself under the canopy in front of the wine bar, situated on a quiet Vinohrady street – perfect for soaking up the vibes.
